Fujifilm X-H2S: Speed and Capability
The Fujifilm X-H2S marked a turning point for the X-series, introducing a stacked 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HS sensor that puts it in direct competition with the big flagships from Sony and Canon.
Blistering Performance
The stacked sensor allows for blackout-free shooting at up to 40fps using the electronic shutter. It also significantly reduces rolling shutter, making it a viable tool for professional sports and wildlife photographers who prefer the compact APS-C system.
Video Powerhouse
Videographers are well-catered for with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes recording. It supports 6.2K open gate shooting and 4K up to 120p, making it one of the most capable video tools in its price bracket.
A New Design Language
Fujifilm opted for a more traditional PASM dial design on the X-H2S, moving away from the dedicated shutter speed and ISO dials found on the X-T series. While some purists may grumble, it results in a faster, more ergonomic experience for hybrid shooters.
Verdict
The X-H2S is the most powerful APS-C camera Fujifilm has ever made. It’s a fast, reliable, and incredibly capable tool for both stills and video, proving that you don’t always need a full-frame sensor for professional work.
