Introduction

If the R5 is the high-resolution flagship, the EOS R6 Mark II is the speed demon for the rest of us. It fixes the main complaints of the original R6 (overheating and 20MP resolution) and turbocharges the performance.

Speed and Autofocus

40 frames per second. Let that sink in. That is faster than the flagship R3. The electronic shutter allows you to capture decisive moments in sports and wildlife that other cameras simply miss. And thanks to the readout speed, rolling shutter is well-controlled.

The autofocus is arguably the best in the business. It recognizes cars, trains, planes, horses, and zebras. It just works.

Video

Unlike the Sony A7 IV, the R6 II shoots 4K 60p using the full width of the sensor. This is a huge advantage for wide-angle video work. The footage is oversampled from 6K, making it incredibly sharp.

Verdict

For event photographers, sports shooters, and hybrid content creators, the R6 Mark II is the sweet spot in Canon's lineup. It offers flagship-level performance at a mid-range price.
